AIRSKIN Product and Applications

  • YES, AIRSKIN complies with UL 1740:2018, ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012, CAN/CSA-Z434-14 + GI1 according to TÜV Rheinland

  • AIRSKIN is shipped to you in a box as an add-on safety device. The products for the specific robot models contain everything to upgrade the robot: AIRSKIN pads, our support layer to mount everything onto the robot, cables, tools, installation instructions and certifications. 

  • Because we use AIR inside an airtight SKIN as medium to detect deformation anywhere on the outer surface of our AIRSKIN pads in collision situations. 

  • When you want to gain space and flexibility, and want to get rid of the fence around the robot.

    When you need more payload and reach than current cobots can provide.

    When you need more speed in your application than current cobots can provide.

  • Yes, AIRSKIN is suitable for operation in special environments, but in order to confirm, we need to know your specific requirements. Please contact our sales team with your specific request.

  • Yes. Mobile applications will be the next evolution in manufacturing and AIRSKIN is already being tested on AGVs.

  • Yes, we have a case where AIRSKIN modules are operational in an oily/dusty industrial environment, now for more than 5 years.

  • No. There are only collaborative applications, as the robot, tool, workpiece and the surrounding have to be considered.

  • You can connect up to 15 AIRSKIN pads in series.

  • Each AIRSKIN Pad shows its operating status via an LED code (e.g. blue = idle, red = pressed), and LEDs on the AIRSKIN Connection Box show the status of the two safety channels (on/off).


  • The weight of the AIRSKIN mounted on the robot will lead to a certain payload reduction, which depends on the specific robot. e.g. from 10.0 to 8.8 kg, or from 20.0 to 19.8 kg.

  • No, AIRSKIN only requires a 24 V DC power supply. Required air pressures are created internally in each pad using an embedded micro pump.

Distribution, Service, Maintenance

  • Yes, please contact our sales team or your local KUKA, Stäubli or Epson partner. 

    Together we will make sure that the end-customer is connected with the right integration partner who can deliver a safe, certified, hiqh-quality application which meets the customer's requirement regarding productivity and budget.

  • Warranty (Gewährleistung) is 12 months. Beyond that, we offer a Sparepart Service based on a yearly subscription, where you have all spare parts on site, and these are replenished in case of a broken part.

  • AIRSKIN is available wordwide (North and South-America, Europe, Asia). Please contact us for your specific request.

  • At least once a year visual check and cleaning has to be done. We suggest to combine the yearly inspection of the robot with AIRSKIN maintenance, as the AIRSKIN has to be removed from the robot anyway.
